Minneapolis, MN – A powerful spring storm is set to bring heavy snow and mixed precipitation to portions of western and central Minnesota starting early Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will last from 7 AM Tuesday through 7 PM Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm will arrive in western Minnesota by Tuesday morning, with snow expected to start in the afternoon and continue into the evening. The snow will be slushy, and at times, mixed precipitation could lead to hazardous road conditions. Snow accumulation is predicted to range from 1 to 3 inches, with some areas potentially seeing up to 6 inches or more. Ice accumulation is expected to be minimal, with only a glaze to a few hundredths of an inch.
The storm is expected to impact travel, especially during Tuesday’s morning and evening commutes, with winds gusting up to 35 mph. Counties affected by this advisory include Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, Renville, Chippewa, Lac Qui Parle, Stevens, Swift, and Yellow Medicine.
