DULUTH, MN – Snow and blustery winds will continue affecting northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin through Saturday, bringing hazardous travel conditions and reduced visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will persist Friday, with additional accumulations of 2 to 4 inches expected in the Arrowhead region. The South Shore area may receive between 2 to 7 inches, with the highest amounts in northern Iron County. Wind gusts up to 40 mph could create dangerous whiteout conditions, particularly on major highways.
Snow is expected to linger into Saturday morning before tapering off in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop into the single digits overnight, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Saturday will bring sunshine but continued blustery conditions, with northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph.
By Sunday, conditions will improve with partly cloudy skies and milder temperatures reaching the upper 30s. However, another round of precipitation could arrive by Monday night, with rain and snow possible into Tuesday.
Drivers are advised to use caution, especially on Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 53, where blowing snow may reduce visibility. The National Weather Service urges residents to check road conditions before traveling and to report snowfall measurements to local authorities.
