Grand Marais, MN – Snowfall is expected to impact parts of northeastern Minnesota early Monday as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. CDT.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, the advisory affects Southern Cook, Southern Lake, and Northern Cook and Lake counties, including cities such as Grand Marais, Silver Bay, Two Harbors, and Isabella. These areas may receive up to one additional inch of snow, with slippery road conditions likely during the Monday morning commute.

The advisory replaces a previous Winter Storm Warning, which has been canceled. Areas within the Grand Portage Reservation and eastern portions of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness are included in the advisory zone.

Residents and travelers should use caution during the early morning hours, as untreated roads may become slick. Those commuting should allow extra travel time and check for real-time conditions via 511mn.org or local transportation agencies.

While snowfall totals are relatively light, localized lake-effect snow and overnight freezing temperatures could increase hazards. This advisory aligns with late-season snow patterns typical for the Lake Superior region, where spring snowfalls can cause travel disruptions even after calendar winter ends.
