Brimson, Minn. – More than 28,000 acres of forest have burned across northeastern Minnesota as the Camp House and Jenkins Creek wildfires continue to challenge containment efforts heading into the weekend.

According to the Eastern Area Complex Incident Management Team, the Camp House Fire near Brimson reached 90% containment Friday with 12,071 acres affected. Crews are shifting to suppression repair efforts to stabilize soil and restore firelines. Meanwhile, the Jenkins Creek Fire remains only 47% contained at 16,781 acres, with infrared technology aiding detection of lingering hot spots. The fire, located in T57N R13W Section 3, is confirmed human-caused.

In St. Louis County, residents of Skibo were allowed to return home Thursday, but multiple road closures remain. Skibo Road is closed to all traffic, while Bundle Lake Road is shut down from Hwy-16/Town Line Rd. Several forest roads near the fire perimeter are limited to through-traffic only.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that all evacuations in their jurisdiction have been lifted. A high of 64°F and low humidity is expected today, with winds out of the north at 5–7 mph—conditions that could influence fire behavior.

Fire officials urge residents to stay alert and obey closure orders. Aerial operations remain active; drone interference could halt progress. Updates will follow as containment efforts continue.
