Duluth, Minn. – Northern Minnesota will see a spring warm-up this weekend, with temperatures climbing into the 70s across much of the region by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a warming trend will develop through Saturday, bringing highs in the upper 60s to cities like Grand Rapids, Hibbing, and International Falls. By Sunday afternoon, widespread 70s are expected across inland areas, marking some of the warmest readings so far this year.
However, communities near Lake Superior — including Duluth, Two Harbors, and Grand Marais — will remain noticeably cooler due to persistent lake breezes. Highs along the shore may struggle to reach the 60s, especially during the afternoon hours.
Residents across the Iron Range and Arrowhead region should expect dry conditions and lighter winds, making it an ideal weekend for outdoor activities. Still, those heading to the lakefront should bring an extra layer to stay comfortable.
This weekend’s warmth marks a sharp change from recent chilly mornings and could signal the start of a broader spring shift. No rain is in the forecast through Sunday evening, but NWS will continue to monitor any early-week storm development.
Another update is expected Saturday morning as temperatures climb.
