DULUTH, Minn. – Northern Minnesota will battle chilly nights and scattered rain through Sunday, with patchy frost possible across much of the region. Drivers and early risers should brace for slick conditions on rural roads as temperatures dip into the 30s overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, widespread rain develops south of U.S. Highway 2 Thursday afternoon, tapering into the evening. Cooler air lingers into Friday, when gusty winds and scattered showers bring another round of damp, raw conditions. Areas of frost remain possible Friday night into early Saturday.
Saturday offers only slight relief, with a chance of rain showers and another overnight frost threat. By Sunday, skies turn milder and mostly sunny, though morning lows remain near freezing in parts of St. Louis, Lake, and Carlton counties.
Relief arrives Monday as temperatures climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s with partly cloudy skies and only a slight chance of rain late in the day. Residents are urged to protect late-season crops and sensitive plants from repeated frost risk through the weekend.
Cool, unsettled weather holds until Sunday, with warming and more seasonable conditions expected early next week.
