Duluth, MN – Lake-effect snow showers are tapering off this morning along the South Shore of Lake Superior, but another brief round of light snow is expected tonight, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.
Snowfall totals will remain light, generally a half-inch or less, though slick spots may develop on untreated roads this evening into early Tuesday.
After the early-week snow, a warming trend will take hold across northern Minnesota, with temperatures climbing into the 30s and 40s by Tuesday and Wednesday. The region will return to seasonal averages by midweek, though breezy winds are expected Wednesday before skies begin to clear.
Forecasters say the next chance for rain or mixed precipitation will arrive over the weekend as a new system approaches from the west.
Residents along the Duluth and Superior corridor can expect improving travel conditions by late morning today as the snow bands weaken and visibility improves.
