Duluth, Minnesota – Light rain and a few isolated thunderstorms could dampen parts of northeastern Minnesota this afternoon, with the North Shore and Arrowhead region most likely to see on-and-off showers through Saturday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, rain chances gradually rise starting around 1 p.m., peaking between 3 and 6 p.m. for towns like Silver Bay, Grand Marais, Ely, and Two Harbors. Precipitation probabilities in those areas reach 30% at times, with totals generally between 0.01 and 0.1 inches.

Cities including Duluth, Virginia, and Moose Lake may also see scattered rainfall, though accumulation will remain minimal. The light rain could make roads slick, especially on scenic routes like Highway 61 and smaller county roads near Lake Superior. Thunderstorm activity is expected to stay isolated but cannot be ruled out.

Residents are advised to carry rain gear and check road conditions before traveling along the North Shore. Lightning could briefly disrupt outdoor plans, though severe weather is not anticipated.

Showers will taper off into the evening, with rain chances falling below 10% by 9 p.m. Another update may be issued if storm development becomes more organized.
