Minneapolis, MN – A wintry mix of light snow and freezing drizzle is expected to develop across central Minnesota late Sunday into Monday. Drivers along Interstate 94 and surrounding areas should prepare for slick road conditions early Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Twin Cities, freezing drizzle may linger through Monday morning, primarily impacting areas north of I-94 and extending into western Wisconsin. This system will move out by midday, leaving mostly cloudy skies and a high near 30 degrees.

Temperatures will trend slightly warmer this week, with highs near 31 degrees Monday and climbing to 37 by Thursday. A period of dry weather is forecast through Christmas Day, with only a slight chance of snow early Monday and again late Thursday. Winds will remain light and variable, minimizing additional hazards.

Christmas Day in the Twin Cities is expected to be cloudy with a high near 34 degrees, making it ideal for holiday travel or outdoor festivities. By midweek, a chance of rain may develop late Thursday, bringing milder conditions but potentially creating wet roadways.

Travelers and commuters are urged to monitor conditions, particularly Monday morning. Be sure to allow extra travel time and drive with caution on untreated surfaces. Stay updated on weather alerts through local forecasts or the NWS website.

Stay warm this week and plan accordingly for fluctuating conditions.
