Duluth, MN – Residents in Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin should prepare for a cold and snowy weekend as temperatures remain below average and snow chances increase. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through Friday night for parts of Minnesota’s North Shore and the Twin Ports area.

According to the National Weather Service, an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow could accumulate along the North Shore by Friday evening, with higher totals in localized areas. Blustery winds are expected to create hazardous driving conditions, particularly on Highway 61 near Lake Superior. Residents are urged to drive cautiously and monitor updates for changing road conditions.

Looking ahead, Saturday will bring partly sunny skies and temperatures ranging from 15 to 22 degrees. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with highs between 20 and 28 degrees. Flurries are possible late Sunday night into Monday, with a slight chance of light snow lingering into Monday afternoon. Temperatures will rise slightly next week, with highs reaching the mid-30s by Christmas Day.

For those traveling this weekend, take precautions to stay warm and check forecasts frequently, especially if driving near the lake-effect snow zones.
