Twin Cities, MN – The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for the Twin Cities, warning of strong to severe storms expected to move into the area this evening and continue into Friday.

According to the US National Weather Service Twin Cities, dry weather will persist across eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin today, with light showers anticipated to arrive in western Minnesota this afternoon. The rain will intensify and become widespread overnight, potentially bringing isolated thunder. Tomorrow, additional storms are forecast ahead of a cold front, with the possibility of some becoming severe, particularly across southern Minnesota.

Today’s temperatures are expected to reach highs of 75-80 degrees with lows of 60-65 degrees. Friday will see scattered storms, with highs again between 75-80 degrees and lows of 60-65 degrees. The severe weather threat is highest late tonight into Friday.

The weekend promises relief from the stormy conditions, with Saturday forecasted to be mostly sunny and cooler, with highs of 65-75 degrees and lows of 45-55 degrees. Sunday will be sunny with temperatures rising slightly, ranging from 70-75 degrees and lows of 50-60 degrees.
