Warm, dry, and windy conditions in Minnesota on Friday are raising fire risks across the state, particularly along Highway 35 and other areas around the Twin Cities. Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 73°F with wind speeds between 15 to 30 mph, significantly increasing the potential for fire spread. The public is urged to avoid outdoor burning and remain cautious, especially in areas with dry vegetation.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), these elevated fire risks will persist through the afternoon and into the evening. Winds will remain gusty throughout Friday, contributing to the increased fire danger. Though Saturday may bring isolated rain showers, any precipitation is expected to be light and scattered, providing little relief from the dry conditions.

Residents should be aware that Saturday’s temperatures will hover around 71°F, with a 20% chance of rain in the morning. The wind will slightly decrease, but the fire risk remains. Looking ahead, Sunday is expected to be even warmer, with temperatures near 80°F and gusts of wind up to 30 mph, which could further exacerbate fire hazards in certain areas.

By Monday, temperatures will climb to a high of 79°F under mostly sunny skies, maintaining warm conditions across the region. This forecast offers little respite from dry conditions, meaning fire risks may continue early into the week. The NWS recommends that residents follow local advisories, stay informed about weather updates, and avoid activities that could inadvertently ignite fires.
