MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Patchy fog and a few isolated showers could slow drivers across Minnesota Thursday night into Friday morning, with additional rounds of rain possible heading into the holiday weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, Friday begins with fog across much of the state, followed by scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Rain chances remain low overall—around 20%—but will be more focused across western Minnesota through early next week.

Highs will stay seasonable, ranging from the mid-70s to near 80, with overnight lows in the 50s to low 60s. In the Twin Cities, conditions should remain mostly dry and comfortable, though residents may notice foggy starts Friday and into the weekend. Western counties including Willmar, Morris, and Marshall will see the best chance for passing showers each day.

Travelers heading into the Labor Day weekend should allow extra time during early morning hours due to reduced visibility from fog. Outdoor plans across central and eastern Minnesota, including Minneapolis and St. Paul, look mostly favorable with only spotty shower risks.

Isolated storm chances increase again Tuesday, with the next system bringing scattered rain into southern and western Minnesota.
