East Grand Forks, MN – Bitter cold will grip the region today, but temperatures will gradually rise through the weekend, bringing rain by Sunday night.

Friday’s high will reach just 24°F, but brisk south winds of 9-16 mph, with gusts up to 26 mph, will make it feel much colder. Wind chills could drop as low as -18°F, creating hazardous conditions for those outdoors. Tonight, temperatures will fall to 13°F under mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday will bring slight relief, with a high of 34°F and partly sunny skies. Winds will shift from the south to the northwest in the afternoon, with speeds around 5-8 mph. Saturday night will be mostly cloudy, with lows near 19°F.

By Sunday, rain chances increase to 30%, mainly in the afternoon, as temperatures climb to 39°F. Gusty winds up to 23 mph may accompany the system. Rain remains a possibility through Sunday night and Monday, when the high reaches 41°F.

Tuesday will be partly sunny with a high of 43°F, but another round of rain could return Tuesday night into Wednesday. Travelers should prepare for icy roads today and wet conditions by early next week.
