Minneapolis, Minn. – Temperatures across Minnesota are climbing well above average this week, with highs expected in the low to mid-80s through Friday, bringing an early taste of summer to the Twin Cities and beyond.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, Monday’s highs could reach up to 85°F, nearly 20 degrees warmer than normal for early May. The warmth will persist through Saturday, with a slight dip midweek before another round of 80s returns. A weak cold front may trigger isolated rain showers Friday, but the rest of the week is expected to remain dry and mostly sunny.

The warm pattern is impacting areas statewide, with communities like Rochester, Mankato, and St. Cloud also seeing afternoon highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Overnight lows will remain mild, generally staying in the 40s and 50s. While the weather remains pleasant, residents are urged to stay hydrated and monitor vulnerable individuals as unseasonal warmth continues.

This marks one of the warmest starts to May in recent years for the region. A more typical spring pattern may return next week. Until then, expect sunny skies and summer-like temperatures across much of Minnesota. Another update is expected by Friday morning.
