Duluth, Minn. – A damp wind slides in off Lake Superior this early Monday, carrying the scent of rain and the chill of change. Streets glisten under dim gray clouds, and the first real taste of late-October weather is on its way.

The National Weather Service in Duluth reports that rain showers will develop through the day, becoming likely by afternoon. Winds will strengthen from the east, gusting up to 25 mph near the lakefront. Highs will hover near 57°F, but it’ll feel cooler in the breeze. Residents should expect wet roads during the evening commute and limited visibility across I-35 and the Blatnik Bridge.

By Tuesday, colder air filters in behind the front. Showers remain possible, with highs near 45°F and northwest gusts near 30 mph. The mix of moisture and falling temperatures may briefly flirt with the first frost risk inland Tuesday night as skies begin to clear.

Wednesday brings relief — mostly sunny, calmer, and crisp, with highs in the upper 40s. Nights dip into the low 30s, marking the coldest stretch so far this fall. By Thursday and Friday, sunshine returns, but the mornings could be frosty for parts of the Iron Range and inland Duluth neighborhoods.

Heading into the weekend, a drier pattern holds, though long-range models hint at another rainmaker next week. For now, this week belongs to classic Minnesota fall weather — gray, gusty, and one step closer to winter.
