Brainerd, MN – A mix of rain, snow, and freezing drizzle is expected to develop across central and northern Minnesota late Tuesday, bringing hazardous travel conditions through at least Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a light glaze of ice is possible early Wednesday morning, particularly across the Brainerd Lakes area, and extending north through Walker and Lake Winnie. A 30–60% chance of precipitation includes a wintry mix with light snow accumulation, mainly during the overnight hours into early Wednesday.

High temperatures on Wednesday are forecast to reach 35°F to 54°F, with lows ranging from 17°F to 31°F, depending on elevation and proximity to Lake Superior. The Arrowhead region will remain the coolest across the state. Motorists are urged to use caution during early commutes, especially in areas prone to slick roads.

Precipitation chances continue into Thursday, with a lower 20–30% chance of lingering light rain or snow. Conditions are expected to dry out by Friday as warmer air moves in, bringing highs near 59°F in some parts of southern Northland.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and consider delaying travel during icy periods. Use extra caution on untreated roads and walkways.
