Minneapolis, MN – Fall begins with storm chances Tuesday as Minnesota residents prepare for shifting temperatures and active skies this week. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of central and southern Minnesota, along with parts of west-central Wisconsin.

According to NWS Twin Cities, isolated to scattered thunderstorms may develop over far southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon and evening. Some storms could grow strong to severe, bringing hail and damaging winds. Commuters along I-35 and I-90 should plan for slowdowns if storms arrive during evening travel.

Tuesday will bring highs near 74°F with partly sunny skies early before storm chances increase. Areas north of the Twin Cities will see calmer weather, but southern counties from Albert Lea to Rochester face the greatest risk. Residents are urged to monitor alerts and stay weather-aware through the day.

Looking ahead, conditions improve midweek. Wednesday and Thursday stay mostly sunny with highs in the mid-70s and mild winds. By Friday, skies remain clear, with temperatures holding steady in the upper 70s. This stretch provides a comfortable window for outdoor activities as the first week of fall unfolds.

Cooler nights are also on the way. Lows will dip into the upper 50s by midweek, giving an early taste of crisp autumn evenings. While no significant cold snaps are expected this week, the forecast hints at cooler air moving in by late September.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through local forecasts and be prepared for quick changes in Tuesday’s weather. Spotter activation may be requested if storms intensify over southern Minnesota.
