Winds strengthen through the day. Northwest gusts climb past 30 mph, creating areas of blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility. Travel conditions may deteriorate fast, especially on open stretches west and south of Minneapolis–St. Paul.
By Sunday night, colder air tightens its grip. Wind chills fall well below zero as skies remain mostly cloudy and roads stay slushy or snow-packed. Extra caution is advised for anyone returning from holiday trips.
Early next week brings no quick warmup. Highs struggle to reach the teens, with overnight lows near zero. Wind chills stay harsh, and exposed skin can become numb within minutes.
Looking toward New Year’s Eve and the start of 2026, conditions trend quieter but remain cold. Skies partially clear, though lingering snow chances cannot be ruled out midweek.
