Minneapolis, Minnesota – Thunderstorms will return to the Twin Cities by late Monday, July 21, as temperatures climb into the upper 80s under muggy skies.

According to the National Weather Service, a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms begins after 1 a.m. Tuesday, with higher chances (70%) by Tuesday night. Daytime highs in Minneapolis-St. Paul will reach near 87°F, making it one of the hottest starts to the week so far this July.

Residents should plan for possible delays during Tuesday morning and evening commutes, especially along I-35W, I-94, and Hwy 62. South winds up to 15 mph could also impact cyclists and those working outdoors. Keep devices charged and avoid flooded underpasses during heavy downpours.
