Minneapolis, MN – Residents across the Twin Cities and much of Minnesota will feel one last blast of summer warmth this weekend before temperatures shift closer to fall norms early next week.
According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, high temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and low 90s Thursday through Sunday. Saturday is expected to be the hottest day, with highs near 90 degrees. Sunny skies are forecast throughout the period, with little to no chance of rain for the next seven days.
Forecasters say the warm stretch will come to a quick end on Monday, October 6, when highs fall to the mid-60s, marking a nearly 20-degree drop in just 24 hours. The cooler weather will bring conditions back in line with typical October averages across Minnesota.
The unusual early October heat may offer one more chance for outdoor activities, yard work, and harvest progress across the state before fall weather settles in. Farmers and those working outdoors are reminded to stay hydrated during the hotter days, especially Saturday, when temperatures push near record highs for the season.
The Weather Service noted that while temperatures will cool next week, precipitation chances remain low, keeping Minnesota in a dry pattern heading into mid-October.
