Minnesota – Bright sunshine reflects off cold pavement this morning, but the chill cuts deep, and a late-week shift could bring snow back into the picture. Drivers along I-35 near Duluth are starting dry, but changing conditions could arrive fast by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, highs reach near 43 degrees today under sunny skies, with light winds shifting through the afternoon. Temperatures drop to near 33 degrees tonight, setting up a cold start with a slight chance of a rain and snow mix late.

Duluth and nearby areas, including Superior, Wisconsin, and Proctor, will see similar conditions Tuesday with highs again near 43 degrees. Skies turn partly sunny, but cooler air lingers, especially near Lake Superior where winds off the water keep things brisk.

By Wednesday, clouds increase and hold temperatures steady in the low 40s. A developing system begins to organize, bringing a 30 percent chance of rain later in the day and into the evening. Roads could turn damp, especially during the afternoon commute.

The bigger impact arrives Thursday. Rain mixes with snow by midday, with temperatures near 40 degrees and north winds increasing up to 20 mph. Visibility could drop during heavier bursts, especially on elevated roadways and bridges. Plan extra time and watch for slick spots.

Conditions turn sharply colder Thursday night, with lows falling to around 17 degrees. Any leftover moisture could refreeze, creating icy patches early Friday morning.

A gradual improvement follows into the weekend, with sunshine returning and highs climbing back into the mid-40s.
