According to the Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service La Crosse, WI, severe storms are possible primarily north of Interstate 90 on Thursday and Friday. Details remain uncertain, but these storms could bring heavy rain and gusty winds. Isolated non-severe storms are also possible today, Wednesday, primarily in northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin.

Looking ahead to the Juneteenth holiday on Thursday, widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly after 1 a.m. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible, with higher amounts in thunderstorms. On Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, and higher amounts in thunderstorms.

This weekend brings a significant heat threat. Dangerous heat is expected on Saturday and Sunday, with maximum heat indices ranging from 95 to 105 degrees in the afternoon.
