Twin Cities, MN – A chilly Friday morning greeted Minnesotans with temperatures in the 20s, but changes are coming as rain and snow are expected to develop later this afternoon across western and central parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, mostly cloudy skies will transition to precipitation by late Friday. Highs today will reach the low 40s in many areas, though overnight lows are expected to drop into the teens. The system may bring light accumulations or slick conditions, especially during the evening commute.

Cooler-than-average temperatures will persist through Tuesday, with highs staying in the 30s and low 40s across much of Minnesota. The Twin Cities area should see temperatures begin to moderate by mid-week, with highs rebounding into the 50s by Wednesday.

Residents should prepare for changing travel conditions this afternoon and into the weekend. Drivers are advised to allow extra time on roads and check for updates from MnDOT. Layering clothing and avoiding unnecessary travel during precipitation windows is recommended.

While the weekend remains dry, the cold pattern will stick until mid-week, when a gradual warming trend offers relief from the extended chill.
