Duluth, Minnesota – Minnesota drivers and gardeners should brace for another round of sub-freezing temperatures and biting winds today as a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. Monday. The bigger concern is what comes next—more frost risk returns Tuesday night as another cold front moves in, with low temperatures dropping into the lower 30s across the Northland.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, Monday’s highs will hover in the mid-40s with gusty east winds up to 40 mph. Conditions remain breezy and cold across St. Louis, Cook, Carlton, and Lake Counties. Tuesday brings a chance for rain during the day, but the focus shifts again to cold overnight temps in the mid-30s by Tuesday night, especially in the Iron Range and Arrowhead regions.

Sensitive plants, crops, and unprotected outdoor plumbing remain at risk. Officials urge residents to cover vegetation, drain hoses, and avoid unnecessary travel early Tuesday, particularly along higher elevation roads like U.S. Highway 53.

By Wednesday, temperatures begin climbing slightly with highs in the low 50s under partly sunny skies. However, frost remains possible Wednesday night with lows near 37°F.
