Minneapolis, Minn. – Morning commuters across Minnesota face dangerous conditions as dense fog blankets highways, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less. The National Weather Service warns that drivers on I-94, I-35, and Highway 52 should use headlights, slow down, and leave extra space between vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, the Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 10. The advisory covers much of central, southern, and western Minnesota, as well as parts of west-central Wisconsin. By midday, skies will begin to clear, leading into a stretch of calmer, more seasonable fall weather.

Thursday, September 11—Patriot Day and a National Day of Remembrance—will bring partly sunny skies across the Twin Cities, with highs near 77°F and light southeast winds. Conditions appear favorable for outdoor memorial events statewide. Cooler overnight lows in the lower 60s will bring a crisp autumn feel.

Friday will turn warmer, topping out near 82°F under partly sunny skies. A light southeast breeze continues into Saturday, when highs reach the mid-80s, marking one of the last warm stretches of the season. By Monday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops, signaling the return of more unsettled weather.

Drivers should remain cautious this morning until fog clears. Authorities stress extra care on rural highways and low-lying areas, where fog tends to linger longer.
