Duluth, MN – Dense fog, rain, and snow will impact Duluth and the Arrowhead region today, with dangerous conditions persisting into Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory through 10 a.m. Saturday, with visibility reduced to less than a quarter-mile in many areas. Travelers are advised to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and exercise extreme caution.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will transition to snow by midday Saturday, with a 30-60% chance of snowfall exceeding one inch in the region. Strong winds with gusts up to 20 mph could make conditions hazardous, particularly on rural roadways like Highway 61.

Looking ahead, patchy fog is expected to linger into Sunday morning. Daytime highs will reach 36°F Sunday under mostly cloudy skies, with nighttime lows dipping to 27°F. New Year’s Eve (Monday) brings a sunny respite with a high near 36°F, but blustery conditions return Tuesday as temperatures drop to a high of 28°F.

Local officials urge residents to prepare for rapidly changing road conditions and allow extra time for holiday travel. With snow accumulation and wind gusts expected, maintaining awareness of weather alerts will be crucial.
