Duluth, MN – The coldest air of the season will sweep into northern Minnesota beginning Wednesday, following the departure of a low-pressure system, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth.
Forecasters say temperatures will drop sharply through the day Wednesday, with highs only reaching the 20s and overnight lows falling into the teens and single digits. Wind chills could dip to around zero degrees during the early morning hours Thanksgiving Day.
The NWS reports this cold pattern is expected to persist through at least next weekend, with a 60–70% probability of temperatures remaining below normal into mid-December. Residents should prepare for prolonged cold conditions, especially those traveling over the holiday period.
Officials advise bundling up, limiting time outdoors, and ensuring pets and livestock have adequate shelter. Travelers are also urged to check local forecasts before hitting the road, as icy patches may form overnight due to freezing temperatures.
