Minnesota – A mild breeze and soft morning light are giving the Twin Cities a calm start, but the air is already shifting toward a fast warm-up that will feel more like late April than late March.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb quickly into the upper 60s today, then surge to around 75°F by Monday as dry air and sunshine dominate early in the week.
That warmth is short-lived. Moisture begins pushing back into Minnesota by Monday night, bringing a 30% chance of rain, mainly after midnight. Roads across I-94, I-35W, and Highway 169 could turn slick during the early commute window.
By Tuesday, the shift becomes more noticeable. Highs drop sharply to near 50°F, with scattered showers and gusty northwest winds reaching up to 25 mph. The cooler air will feel sharp compared to the early-week warmth.
Drivers should stay alert late Monday into Tuesday as wet pavement and falling temperatures increase the risk for reduced traction. While no freezing rain is expected, brief cooling could create patchy slick spots on untreated surfaces.
Midweek brings a quieter pattern. Sunshine returns Wednesday, but temperatures stay cooler, only reaching the upper 40s. Nights dip near freezing again, especially in outlying suburbs.
Looking ahead, additional systems later in the week could introduce mixed precipitation, including rain and snow chances by Thursday into Friday.
