Minneapolis, MN – Drivers should use extreme caution as freezing drizzle and snow create hazardous travel conditions across southern Minnesota today. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m., with icy conditions likely on major roadways, including I-90 and I-35.
According to the National Weather Service, light precipitation early Saturday will transition to freezing drizzle by afternoon, increasing the risk of slick roads and black ice. Ice accumulation of up to 0.1 inches is forecast, primarily impacting bridges, overpasses, and untreated surfaces. Travel delays are expected, particularly in southern Minnesota and into western Wisconsin.
Temperatures are forecast to hover around 29°F today before dropping to 19°F tonight, with patchy fog reducing visibility. Sunday’s forecast includes cloudy skies with a high near 32°F and calm winds.
Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions at 511mn.org before traveling.
