St. Paul, MN – Minnesota is preparing for more severe weather after a week of heavy rainfall drenched the state. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop across western Minnesota later this morning and move east through the afternoon, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

According to the US National Weather Service Twin Cities, a much-needed dry and sunny Sunday is ahead, with highs reaching 77-82°F. However, the next weather system to watch will bring the chance for a few strong to severe storms across the region Monday into Tuesday, with highs between 85-90°F.

Travelers this weekend are advised to be aware of water-covered roadways across southern Minnesota, where several inches of rain have fallen over the past few days. The Weather Service warns that most flood fatalities occur in vehicles and that 12 inches of fast-moving water can sweep a car off the road.

The outlook for the coming days includes mostly sunny skies and isolated storm chances on Tuesday, with temperatures remaining high at 85-90°F, before cooling down to 75-80°F on Wednesday. Residents are urged to stay informed about weather updates and to exercise caution while traveling in affected areas.
