Duluth, Minnesota – Minnesota will battle a wet and windy spring week as showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds move into Duluth starting Tuesday morning. Drivers, especially along I-35 and Highway 53, should prepare for slick roads and sudden strong gusts through at least Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, a slight chance of showers will begin early Tuesday with breezy conditions by afternoon. Winds could gust up to 30 mph, reducing visibility on major roadways. Temperatures will climb to a mild 53°F before skies clear overnight into Wednesday. However, the break will be short-lived.

Another round of showers is likely late Wednesday into Thursday, along with persistent gusty winds reaching up to 25 mph. Southbound and eastbound travel along I-35 may be impacted by standing water and slippery conditions during peak commute hours. Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and stay alert for rapidly changing conditions.

Wednesday will see a brief return of sunshine early in the day, but expect clouds and rain to return by Wednesday night. Temperatures during the day will hover near 58°F, dropping to the low 40s overnight. Thursday remains unsettled with more showers expected and highs near 55°F.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday will dry out slightly with partly sunny skies and temperatures nearing 60°F. Winds will still be a factor, gusting up to 20 mph, making outdoor activities brisk but manageable. Saturday and Sunday promise warmer, calmer spring weather, with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s by Sunday.

Residents should monitor for any additional weather alerts and plan for possible delays, especially Tuesday through Thursday. NWS Duluth will issue updates as necessary throughout the week.
