Duluth, MN – Dense fog is creating hazardous driving conditions in Duluth and surrounding areas early this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the region, with visibility dropping to as low as one-quarter mile in some spots. The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. CDT today, May 3, 2025.

According to the National Weather Service, the fog is especially thick in Central St. Louis and Carlton Counties, including the cities of Duluth and Hibbing. Drivers are urged to use extra caution, slow down, and ensure their low-beam headlights and fog lights are on. If traveling, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and avoid rushing as conditions remain dangerous through the morning.

Once the fog clears, the region will see sunnier skies and milder temperatures for the remainder of the weekend. Saturday will bring a high of 58°F with low humidity, and by Sunday, temperatures will rise to 62°F, with light winds expected. Sunday night will see temperatures drop to around 39°F, perfect for clear skies and calm weather.

Looking ahead, Duluth’s forecast shows clear skies continuing through Monday and Tuesday with highs climbing into the low 70s by midweek. A slight breeze will keep things pleasant, but it could gust up to 20 mph on Monday. There is also a chance of showers moving in on Wednesday, but overall, the extended forecast points to a warm and mostly sunny week.

Be sure to stay aware of any updates for the Dense Fog Advisory, which is expected to end by 9 a.m. today.
