Minneapolis, MN – A long-duration snow event brought significant accumulations across southern Minnesota and Wisconsin on November 28–29, with totals ranging from 3 to 12 inches according to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities.

The storm began early Friday and continued into Saturday, producing steady snow across much of the region. Areas along Interstate 90 reported the heaviest amounts, with 8 to 12 inches observed in southern Minnesota. In the Twin Cities metro, snowfall varied from 3 inches in the northern suburbs to about 6 inches in the southern metro, including Burnsville and Lakeville.

Further south, communities such as Albert Lea, Fairmont, and Rochester saw totals exceeding 8 inches. The snow spread eastward into central and southern Wisconsin, bringing similar amounts to areas near Madison and La Crosse.

The NWS noted that breezy winds late Saturday caused blowing and drifting snow, making travel difficult and leading to reduced visibility. The combination of wind and lingering light snow also made it challenging to obtain precise measurements in open areas.

Road conditions gradually improved Sunday as crews cleared remaining snow and temperatures held near freezing. Forecasters expect calmer weather through the start of the week before another potential system approaches later in the week.
