Minneapolis, MN – Damaging winds and large hail threaten central Minnesota Tuesday afternoon through evening, with heavy rain expected to continue into Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, a Level 2 severe thunderstorm risk is in effect between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., especially across central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Winds gusting between 60-70 mph and hail from quarter to golf ball size pose the main hazards. Additionally, multiple rounds of slow-moving thunderstorms will bring localized rainfall totals of 3 to 4 inches or more through Wednesday morning.

Cities including St. Cloud, Willmar, and Redwood Falls are within the highest risk zone for damaging winds and large hail. Residents in these areas should stay alert, secure outdoor items, and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings both at home and outdoors. The extended rainfall may cause minor street flooding and ponding, so avoid driving through water-covered roads.

Warnings and watches remain in effect through Wednesday morning. Additional updates are expected as conditions evolve, so stay tuned to local authorities for the latest information.
