Minneapolis, Minn. – Windy, soaking rain will continue to drench the Twin Cities through Wednesday morning, with some areas expected to receive more than 3 inches of total rainfall, creating a risk of ponding on roads and localized flooding.
According to the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall across central and southern Minnesota today, accompanied by gusty winds and temperatures ranging from 45 to 55 degrees. Heavier showers and wind gusts could reduce visibility and lead to slick driving conditions, especially during the evening commute.
Cities including Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, and Eagan are likely to see persistent downpours today. Low-lying roads and poor drainage areas could be especially prone to water accumulation. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to secure outdoor items as winds pick up.
The rain is expected to taper off by early Wednesday, with sunshine and calmer weather returning Thursday. Highs will gradually climb into the low to mid-60s by the weekend.
More updates are expected as rainfall totals increase. Stay weather-aware through Wednesday morning.
