Minneapolis, MN – Minnesotans can expect a spectacular show as the northern lights are set to illuminate the night skies tonight and tomorrow. The ongoing geomagnetic storm will allow the aurora borealis to be seen much farther south than usual.

According to the Space Weather Prediction Center, the northern lights will be most visible in northern Minnesota, with Duluth and the Boundary Waters offering the best views. However, clear skies will allow many across the state to catch a glimpse.

Experts recommend watching between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. for the brightest display. Rural areas and locations away from city lights will provide the best viewing experiences.

The northern lights, often confined to high latitudes, are a rare sight in Minnesota. Residents are advised to take advantage of tonight and tomorrow’s viewing opportunities for this awe-inspiring display.
