Hanover, Minnesota – A 27-year-old man remains at large after allegedly pointing a crossbow at deputies during a standoff in Hanover on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 3 p.m. to the 11000 block of Crow Hassan Park Road for a dispute involving a vehicle being towed. At approximately 4:35 p.m., Randy Mathews allegedly emerged from the residence and aimed a crossbow at deputies while making verbal threats before retreating back inside the home.

Authorities say other occupants of the house complied with orders to exit peacefully. Hennepin County investigators, along with the Emergency Services Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, Minnesota State Patrol, and the BCA, responded to the incident. A perimeter was quickly established and search warrants were executed.

Although the crossbow was recovered during the operation, Mathews was not located. Law enforcement continues efforts to track him down and is asking the public to remain alert.

Mathews is described as a Black male, 6’7” tall, weighing 222 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
