Duluth, Minn. – Patchy frost is expected to develop across northern Minnesota Saturday night, with widespread frost and freeze conditions likely from late Sunday into Monday morning, threatening sensitive vegetation and gardens.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, low temperatures tonight will dip into the low 30s across the Arrowhead region, mid-30s through central Minnesota, and upper 30s in parts of northwest Wisconsin. A freeze is possible in the Arrowhead, including Ely, Grand Marais, and areas near the Canadian border. Brainerd Lakes and Grand Rapids may also see early frost.

Temperatures will fall even further Monday morning, with lows ranging from the upper 20s to middle 30s across northern and central Minnesota. Cities like Hibbing, Virginia, and International Falls could wake to near-freezing conditions, while areas near Hayward and Ashland in Wisconsin will see lows in the low 30s.

Residents should protect cold-sensitive plants and bring pets indoors. Gardeners are urged to cover plants or use frost blankets overnight.

Widespread frost is possible again Monday morning, with additional advisories possible as colder air lingers.
