Minneapolis, MN – Residents across the Twin Cities will experience a summer-like weekend with unseasonably warm temperatures, strong winds, and even the possibility of breaking heat records before a sharp cooldown early next week.

According to the US National Weather Service Twin Cities, highs will climb into the mid-to-upper 80s Friday through Sunday, with Saturday potentially reaching the record high of 89 degrees and Sunday near the record of 88. A passing cold front will bring breezy conditions both Saturday and Sunday, making outdoor activities slightly less comfortable despite the warmth.

By Monday, temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with highs only in the low-to-mid 60s. The fall-like weather will continue into Tuesday, bringing relief from the weekend’s heat. Skies will remain mostly clear early next week, with sunshine dominating the outlook.

This shift comes as Minnesota transitions into October, when average highs typically sit closer to the low 60s. The unusual heatwave is a reminder of how quickly Midwest weather can change.

Residents planning weekend outings should prepare for windy conditions and keep an eye on changing temperatures. Early next week, sweaters and jackets may be necessary as the cooler, more seasonal air settles in.
