Minnesota wakes under a steel-gray sky this morning as thin flakes drift across the North Shore, brushing windshields and softening the edges of the harbor. The air bites sharply, settling into the teens, and the pavement holds a cold sheen that urges drivers to slow down. Light snow persists at times today as a passing disturbance continues to move through the Arrowhead.

Flurries increase through midday, and a brief burst of moderate snow may slide across Duluth between noon and 4 p.m. Winds strengthen from the southwest and create scattered slick patches along higher elevations and exposed stretches of I-35. Plan extra travel time if you’re heading into the hill or crossing the Blatnik or Bong bridges. To be fair, accumulation remains minor, but the timing could still impact lunch-hour travel.

Skies stay mostly cloudy tonight with another round of breezy, frigid air sweeping across the region. Wind chills dip quickly back into the single digits. After all, any untreated roads may refreeze fast, especially if shaded or slushy from earlier snow.

Saturday turns mostly sunny but bitterly cold, with highs only in the lower teens. Clouds return Saturday evening, setting the stage for Sunday. Meteorologists now track a weak system that may deliver a slight chance of snow Sunday afternoon. It remains light, but visibility might drop during passing pockets.

National guidance continues to highlight a more active clipper pattern from Dec 11–17, with snow likely across the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest every couple of days. Travelers planning early holiday trips should watch for shifting lake-effect bands and quick temperature swings next week.
