Duluth, MN – Extreme cold continues to grip northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, with dangerously low wind chills expected through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Tuesday, warning of wind chills as low as 35 degrees below zero. Frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes. Tuesday will be sunny but bitterly cold, with a high of 5°F and wind gusts reaching 30 mph.
Wednesday brings slightly milder conditions, with a high near 11°F and calmer winds. Thursday will be sunny but still cold, with a high of 9°F, while Friday sees a warm-up to 19°F with a chance of snow.
Residents should dress in multiple layers, cover exposed skin, and limit outdoor exposure. Anyone traveling should carry an emergency kit, as rapid temperature drops could create hazardous road conditions.
