Duluth, MN – Northern Minnesota is preparing for severe storms set to hit Saturday night, bringing the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and possibly tornadoes. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe weather alert, urging residents to stay informed and take precautions.

According to the NWS, the main risk period for severe weather will be Saturday afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph and large hail are the primary hazards, with a small chance for tornadoes. Locally heavy rainfall could also lead to minor flooding in some areas.

The forecast for the weekend shows temperatures climbing, with highs reaching 85°F on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s weather will be hot and humid, with a high probability of severe storms. Sunday continues the trend with similar conditions, maintaining the risk for severe weather.

Monday’s outlook indicates showers and storms are likely, with temperatures slightly cooler, ranging from 77°F to 86°F. The severe weather threat should diminish by Monday evening, giving way to clearer skies by Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to the mid-70s.
