Duluth, MN – A late-season winter storm blanketed parts of Minnesota and Michigan overnight, prompting Winter Storm Warnings that remain active through early Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service offices in Grand Forks, Duluth, and the Twin Cities, snowfall across central and northern Minnesota will persist until 6 a.m. CDT Thursday. Impacted counties include Beltrami, Cass, St. Louis, Itasca, Aitkin, and Carlton in Minnesota, along with neighboring western Upper Michigan regions. Communities such as Bemidji, Duluth, Brainerd, and International Falls are facing light but disruptive snow, with additional accumulations up to one inch expected.
Roads remain slick due to continuous snowfall and low overnight temperatures. State agencies urge drivers to use caution during early morning commutes. Minnesota’s 511 service and Michigan’s MDOT traveler information sites are monitoring road conditions in real time.
Residents are advised to limit travel if possible and ensure vehicles are equipped with flashlights, food, and water. The snow is expected to taper off after sunrise Thursday, with improving road conditions later in the morning.
This storm follows an unseasonably active spring weather pattern, with forecasters urging vigilance as snow and ice continue to affect northern states.
