Minneapolis, MN – The Twin Cities metro is waking up to light snow and slick travel conditions early Sunday after several overnight bursts of snow blanketed area roads. The National Weather Service in Twin Cities reports that snow showers and flurries will continue through the morning, though total accumulations will remain light — generally a dusting to less than an inch.

Radar early Sunday showed pockets of heavier snow moving across the south metro near Lakeville and Northfield, while live traffic cameras from the Minnesota Department of Transportation confirmed snow-covered roadways along parts of Interstate 35 and surrounding routes.

Forecasters caution drivers to slow down and use extra caution, as even minor snowfall can cause slippery conditions on untreated surfaces. Temperatures remain below freezing, meaning any moisture on the roads could quickly refreeze.

Snow is expected to taper off by mid-morning, with calmer and drier conditions by Sunday afternoon.
