Minneapolis, Minn. – Patchy fog is expected to settle across parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin overnight, creating reduced visibility for early morning drivers Wednesday. Most of the region will stay dry through midweek, but a return of storms late Thursday could slow commutes and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, scattered showers will taper off in western Wisconsin this evening before skies clear. Sunshine dominates Wednesday with highs near 80 degrees, but a line of storms may develop Thursday evening into early Friday. Forecasters say the strongest storms are most likely in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, where gusty winds and heavy downpours could occur.

Drivers across the Twin Cities, Rochester, and Eau Claire should watch for slick roads if storms hit during the Thursday evening rush. Power outages and minor flooding are also possible in low-lying areas. By Friday, lingering showers may give way to drier skies as temperatures begin to cool.

The weekend turns noticeably cooler, with highs dropping into the upper 60s by Sunday. Residents planning outdoor events should prepare for breezy, fall-like conditions. Additional weather statements may be issued if storm chances increase.
