Twin Cities, MN – Smoke from northern wildfires continues to shroud Minnesota in haze, prompting an extended Air Quality Alert through Saturday for the Twin Cities and much of the western part of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, conditions will remain poor through Saturday evening, with only gradual improvement expected by Sunday. Residents with respiratory conditions are urged to limit outdoor exposure and use air purifiers indoors.
Highs will remain seasonable in the upper 70s to low 80s, but skies will stay milky and visibility may be reduced, especially during morning and evening hours.
Western Minnesota remains most impacted, with light winds allowing smoke to stagnate. Sunday may bring a slight chance of showers, but relief is limited until a stronger system moves in early next week.
Those spending time outdoors should consider wearing N95 masks and avoid intense activity.
