Minneapolis, MN – A sunny and cool start to the week will give way to warmer temperatures on Monday before a midweek storm system brings rain and snow to Minnesota.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Twin Cities, Monday’s high temperatures will range from 40°F to 70°F, with cooler conditions where snow fell over the weekend. Clouds will increase on Tuesday, bringing a chance of rain showers and highs between 40°F and 60°F.

By Tuesday night, rain is expected to transition to snow, particularly in areas east of I-35 and south of I-94, where the highest chances of accumulation exist. However, NWS notes that confidence in snowfall amounts remains low due to uncertainties in the storm’s track. Winds will also increase as the system moves through, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.

Wednesday will see the greatest impact, with rain and snow showers likely across southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Highs will drop to between 30°F and 40°F, with overnight lows in the 20s. The system is expected to clear by Thursday, bringing a return to sunny skies and highs in the 40s to 50s.

Residents are advised to monitor updates as forecast confidence improves and prepare for potential winter weather impacts midweek.
