Minneapolis, MN – A series of fast-moving weather systems will bring multiple rounds of precipitation to Minnesota over the next few days, starting with light snow tonight and Monday before a stronger system impacts the region Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Twin Cities office, light snow will develop late Sunday, continuing into Monday evening mainly north of I-94. Accumulations are expected to remain light — generally an inch or less — before tapering off early Tuesday.

By Tuesday, forecasters say a stronger system will move in, bringing accumulating snow north of I-94 and rain south of I-94, including parts of the Twin Cities metro. Highs will reach the upper 30s before colder air returns midweek, bringing flurries and gusty winds Wednesday morning.

“Several weak systems will bring light snow to portions of our area tonight and Monday,” the NWS said Sunday. “We warm up into Tuesday before a stronger system brings a good chance of accumulating snow north of I-94.”

Travelers across central and northern Minnesota should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
