Minneapolis, Minn. – Sunny skies will dominate the Twin Cities today with highs near 80°F and lows around 62°F, offering a final calm stretch before unsettled weather moves in.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, a stalled frontal boundary will return rain chances early Thursday morning, lasting through the weekend. The system could bring multiple rounds of thunderstorms, some capable of producing heavy rainfall across central and southern Minnesota.

Thursday’s storms may affect morning commuters along I-94, Highway 52, and other major routes, with rain chances hovering between 20–40%. Friday and Saturday will bring similar odds for scattered showers and storms, potentially impacting outdoor events, boating plans on area lakes, and agricultural work in rural counties.

Residents are advised to keep an umbrella or rain jacket handy, check road conditions before travel, and be prepared for rapid ponding on streets during heavier downpours. Lightning safety is also urged—move indoors at the first sound of thunder.

The next weather update is expected Thursday morning as storm coverage and timing become clearer.
